Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to receive federal financial aid, you must:
- Be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Be enrolled as a regular student in one of these eligible certificate programs at BOCES: Automotive Technical Training, Aviation Maintenance Technology, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Practical Nursing, or Surgical Technology
- Have a U.S. high school diploma or equivalent
- Not be in default on previous student loans or owe a refund on previous grants
- Be registered for Selective Service if male and 18 years or older
- Make satisfactory academic progress as defined by BOCES
How to Request Financial Aid
Complete the online at . Include the Western Suffolk BOCES federal school code 010147 on your FAFSA. You must apply for financial aid every year! Students who filed a FAFSA in the current academic year may use the Renewal Application. A Student Aid Report (SAR) will be sent via email or mail. Review it and make necessary corrections or provide the Financial Aid Office with documentation required.
Determining Financial Need
Generally, financial aid is awarded on the basis of financial need.
